Brandywine State Park was once part of a duPont family member's estate, which was lined and crossed with stone walls to replicate and evoke the spirit of old(e) England and Wales (it works well on an overcast day when no one's around). |

The Delaware River and the Delaware Memorial Bridge from Old New Castle's Battery Park. The Delaware Memorial Bridge carries I-295 into New Jersey. The plant on the far side is DuPont's Deepwater facility. The river was pretty agry this day, breaking over the seawall when a strong gust came up. |

Old New Castle was founded by Swedish settlers in the mid 17th century. It traded hands to the Dutch when Sweden decided to end their colonial explorations, and then became English in the early 18th century (along with the rest of the New Netherlands). The city is an outstanding historical city, with very little modern intrusions within the city limits. |
