New Developments |
Wilmington is in the midst of a building boom similar to the one in the mid 1980's. In addition to the two 22-story residential tower being built on A Street, there is a 22 story office building approved at 2nd and King, a 14-story office building under construction at 5th and King, a 15-story office tower at Washington Street and Delaware Avenue, a 6 story addition to an existing 5 story parking garage at 800 Delaware Avenue, and a 7-story building for Juniper Bank. Also, the smaller 6-story AAA Mid-Atlantic building opened at the end of May 2005. |

The Two Christina Centre tower was designed by Cesar Pelli. The design of this tower is very similar to Cira Center in West Philadelphia. This project is being developed by Brandywine Realty Trust. |

While not technically in the CBD, I'll include this building here. This is the new Buccini / Pollin Group Headquarters at A and South Walnut Streets. BPG is a real estate development/management company that operates hotels, parking garages, and corporate/market apartment rentals. BPG has made a name for itself in the Wilmington market by building the Christina Landing project, and repositioning the Brandywine Building, Nemours Building, and Delaware Trust Building in Center City Wilmington. |

The new AAA Mid-Atlantic Headquarters on Water and West Streets taken in September 2004. The building topped out in early June after a March groundbreaking. The proposed new Juniper building will be across the street (on the left). The tower crane for the Christina Landing project can be seen looming in the background. |
